The Transport Department tables a 24-page document in a Island District Council meeting and proposes a merger of the currently exclusive ferry routes to Peng Chau and Mui Wo.
Members of the Mui Wo Rural Committee and Island District Councillor Wong Fuk-kan immediately oppose the proposal.
The main objections are against the longer duration of the journey and the possible increase of the ferry fare, while the service in fact declines.
The Mui Wo Rural Committee notifies the South Lantau Residents with pamphlets about an action meeting on July 8, 2007.
